Within You Is This Marvelous Possibility
Written and transcribed by Terry Grant

I have transcribed and edited the following message from a talk Ishvara gave on October 2, 2005. - TG.

Ishvara:

How does one come to this place of expanded awareness that embraces more possibilities? One doesn't get there by clinging to the past, or by clinging to judgments or interpretations. Anything of the past can become an obstacle, because it takes the emphasis away from the present. People can hold themselves in judgments, seeing themselves as "wrong" or "right"--both are judgments, creating a perception, a way of being which continually isolates them, causing confusion.

Periodically, it is necessary for Life to re-emphasize, to project onto the screen of awareness a new transparency, something that has the possibility of changing everything. In that process, there can be confusion, misgivings, and misinterpretations. It takes a while for the transparency to become the blueprint for Life, but in that process, in that time of becoming, there are individuals who can recognize the transparency, who can use their will to align themselves with a higher truth, a greater connected awareness. It takes courage, because the patterns of the past tend to hold one in the past.

The blueprint of Life from the past has worn out, and no longer benefits humanity. You can see the consequences of the blueprint, of the way it has been, in the control, manipulation, beliefs, programming, and hypnosis that are rampant in human existence. These things are of the past. From appearance, they haven't served very well; they have been sort of an in-between-becoming, keeping humanity in waiting for what's next.

As you awaken to the realization of that unique manifestation of Life that you are, you can recognize a new transparency through which your life begins to focus, and you can create a new possibility, a new picture. It takes fortitude, it takes a willingness to see that, because immediately the intellect points out the discrepancies from "what-was", or "how it has been." The intellect projects, "That can't be; why would that be that way? It has always been this other way." But the intellect is a mechanism that runs programs; it is conditional and adheres to consensus reality. So the intellect is not adequate in discerning the new transparency. It is difficult for it to recognize The New Consciousness; the intellect keeps seeing it as the "same old thing" or "similar."

Humans are approaching a radical change or a dreadful demise. There really is no other alternative. One cannot continue to cling to the past, hoping for a better life, hoping that someone will come to make everything better, or thinking that one can continue to live the way people have lived for thousands of years, as a child, living in self-concern. That way of life has served some purposes, but its usefulness has been outlived. The next stage of transformation is facing what the collective has created, to honestly assess and understand, without fear, where things are headed, and to have the courage for making the changes that are necessary to shift course, to move to a different direction, to listen, to be inspired by a higher perspective of Life, to embrace a greater way of being.

This is not an easy thing to do. There is very little support for it. The status quo tends to have its way. Those who have for so long been in control resist change. Many livelihoods depend on the way it has been. It is no wonder individuals are afraid to change. If your livelihood depends on individuals being sick, you certainly don't favor obtaining the medicine, the cure-all, that will put you out of business. That is the way the consensus-conditional mind sees things.

It is historically true that when the top of a system becomes corrupt, the rest begins to fail. You can see the corruption, lies, cheating, manipulation, control, deception and favoritism going on in high places. In the past, these things have destroyed great possibilities, great nations, and it will happen again. As long as humans continue to function at this problematic level of existence--control, selfishness, self-centeredness, "What's in it for me?"--survival is limited.

Yet also within the human is this marvelous possibility. Within the human is this connection. At the core of yourself, the Life-that-you-are knows better. No matter how fearful you are, how resistant you are, how much you cling to the past, there is a part of you that is awake and knows better. That is the part that I am. I have had the courage to take the lead, to leap into the unknown, simply because I know. The feeling-knowing is that it is time; it is time to present the new transparency, The New Consciousness, to demonstrate it so that others may begin to benefit, may begin to resonate, because it is in you as much as it is in me. I am successful at being a human being, very normal (more or less), but don't let that fool you. There is something exceptional about this manifestation, but it is no more exceptional than that which is within you, but you cannot see it as long as you see this manifestation as outside of you.

The problem individuals run into is that they look at me through their senses, their beliefs, and their expectations: "He's just another man speaking some philosophy, something a bit different, but really like everything else. We've heard it before." People can only say they have heard this before, if they are not listening. History, past teachings, even the scriptures, all point to the outside; they all point to "the poor human" who is enslaved; God's whim, God's play. If you really looked at what was being said in the teachings of the past, you would immediately feel the outrage at your core: "How dare you put me in that kind of menial, victimized, inefficient place!" The consensus-reality-conditional world cannot see what is happening, what is present, what is here. It is blind to it. Maybe at times you are blind to it also.

This really is the time to see, the time to get over yourself, the time to wake up and realize how exceptional, how privileged you are to be able to experience this whole thing that is taking place in Life. It doesn't matter that so few recognize what is happening. Most see through the past, through expectations and agendas. It is like wearing rose-colored glasses through which everything looks a certain way.

When you get to the place where you dare to really look--as you have experienced already, if you dared to see me as I am--you cannot remain as you were. You recognize right away that the old life is gone, and that you are being transformed, renewed, and changed. If you can exercise whatever courage you have, you can stay in step, in sync, with the transformation. The understanding comes through direct experience, not through the intellect, not through learning. It comes through experience. When you are courageous enough to experience your Self, the Self that I am, you see that it is all Life. Parts of Life are just slower, parts of Life are just waking up, while other parts are wide awake. It is a natural, unfolding process. There is no mystery to it.
